Style Profile #2: Jessica Wagner

**Our thanks to Ryan Mitchell for letting me use some of his gorgeous pics of Jessica! ^_^

Name
: Jessica Wagner
Profession: artist/ass kicker
Locale: Chicago
Favorite shops: h&m, sale racks at places ghetto places like Rainbow, and resale shops
Fashion Influences: Grace Slick, Twiggy, Edie Sedgwick, Zooey Deschanel, Erykah Badu, and Audrey Hepburn
Local Fashion Scene: A little bit of everything. Although, there are a lot of hipsters and that I do not like. It's weird to see a straight couple walking around with the same jeans and the same haircut.

Spotlight: Shoes

I'm no shoe fetishist, but I've got to admit that
sometimes nothing completes an outfit like the shoes! That said, with the height some heels have reached, they can seem just as confining, painful, and body-altering as a corset. ('Cage heels' look a bit like torture devices, yikes!) But of course, if even animals preen themselves, why shouldn't we? I guess the question is how much pain for how much gain? Send pics of the shoes you wear to see where
we all stack up. Here's a couple to get things rolling:

These were worn by a friend of mine
for a wedding and stayed on her feet
for a total of about 20 minutes.
Damn cute. Damn painful.

These (a pair of my own I recently inherited) are
waaaaay higher than any shoes I've ever worn, but with the wedge and a snug fit, they actually aren't that bad to walk in. Still can't believe I'm wearing them, though, considering I have old feet injuries and I had sworn off high heels after 5 years of massaging women's feet who's toes had practically fused together from the pressure of tight heels. *shudder*

Style Profile #1: Rin

I figured since I started the blog that I should probably be the one to get things rolling. (Why the hell not, right?) Every week we'll feature a new profile!

Name: Rin
Profession: Writer/ Artist
Locale: Chicago (for now...)
Favorite shops/ labels: Honeys (http://www.honeys.co.jp); resale shops
Fashion Influences: Fruits magazine, Gothic-Lolita style, my friends
Local Fashion Scene: I haven't been back in Chicago long enough to get a feel for it, but I got to know Osaka pretty well when I was there. It's a really vibrant fashion scene. It's colorful, glitzy, and damn fun (with less haughtiness than Tokyo). Around Ame-maru ('American Village') in particular you can find lolitas dolled up, punks all leathered up, and all fashionistas rockin' the number one Japanese must-have: HIGH heels!

Welcome to Peaches!

What the hell is this blog about, you may ask?
Well, after returning to the States after several years overseas, I came to a realization about US fashion magazines: they suck. Don't get me wrong, I still glance through them occasionally, but let's face it, every damn fashion spread - even in the coolest of magazines - never looks like something you'd actually wear on the streets. And the photo shoots are ridiculous, putting models in all kids of unnatural poses and absurd settings. (Such as the example below...)

I wanna know what people are *really* wearing. I wanna see how people honestly express themselves without a damn camera crew, stylist, and pro photographer. And that's what the blog's all about. Show off what *you* wear; your style. Contribute pics of you, your friends, whatever! What's the scene in your city, your town, your campus?

Send it over to Picky Peaches (at pickypeaches@gmail.com)! ^_~ I'll be posting my own next Tues!
